Candles, Candles, Candles!

Friday, December 2, 2011

I have a real thing about candles.  I love them!  As you can see from some of my other projects.  I had this wonderful box sitting empty on our dresser in the living room.

I originally planted a great little herb garden in it and unfortunately with my super green thumb all my herbs withered away and I was only left with some dirt :-(

I am sure most of you have seen these and similar mason jars with Epsom salt and candles around pinterest and blogs.  I thought they would be perfect for my little box this Christmas season.

I also made a couple others just because they are so simple and cheap!

P.S.  When using candles in your decor please light them!  There is nothing sadder to me (well maybe I'm exaggerating a little) than seeing perfectly good candles sitting on a table that have never been used.  To me the more a candle has been used, the more character it has...

I will also be linking up to these fabulous parties...

Those little dribs and drabs of candles can be used as fire starters or, how I use them, lit and tilted to drip wax into the holder to stabilize a new candle.

This looks so pretty. Funny, I actually have a RC Cola Crate with canning jars in it sitting in my booth right now...maybe I should add candles, though, as you said, unlit candles are so very sad looking. Thanks for sharing this great idea!

Looks great, Brooke. It's actually one of my favorite ways to display a candle lately. I've made them with popcorn kernels as well as beans too. They're fun.
Love your page. Don't want to miss a thing so I added you to my blogroll.
Much love!

What a great project! I love candles. Can't get too many of them. And I know I have a box like that around here somewhere, except mine's a Coca Cola box. Hm. Sure hope I didn't pitch it. Story of my life: find a great idea to use something I threw out the week before. I'm going to track down that box. Great idea. LOVE IT!! :-)
