My New Mantel

Friday, January 6, 2012

I am so excited to show you our new and improved mantel!

It still has a long way to go, but it is a far cry from this...

We have one of those fabulous homes with the cut out hole above the fireplace for the TV.  Of course it doesn't work for a flat screen so my dear husband modified it to allow our TV to work here.

The problem was I always hated it!  I wanted a real mantel, not a TV.  I never thought my husband would actually go for my suggestion of moving the TV, but not only did he agree; I came home to find the TV moved and my mirror hung!

We moved the TV to the other wall above this dresser - I would show you pictures, but we still have some wires hanging ;-)

No idea what I am going to do with that huge hole over the mirror...but for now the over sized rustic box will work.  Anything is better than those darn TV accessories!!

Now if only I could muster up the courage to talk my landlord into painting the mantel and our kitchen cabinets :-)

I will also be linking up to 52 Mantels as well as these fabulous parties...

I think the rustic box works - those cut outs are the nemesis!

It looks great! We rent too and are always debating with our landlord about decorating changes. We just have to make things as pretty as possible, right?

It takes your mantel to a new look, the mirror looks so much better on top, it dresses it up. How did you get the electrical above the dresser? I really like that green plate. Both the wreath and plate add a lot of texture. Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration at Sunday's Best party!

We have a tv sitting on top of our mantle. There really isn't a better place in our living room for it. I really wish that I could move it elsewhere. Maybe someday. Yours looks wonderful.
