Pinterest Inspired Bathroom

Friday, January 13, 2012

Finally my mini bathroom makeover is complete!  I swear it has been completely done except for the last thing for 2 weeks and it has been making me crazy!

Due to the joys of renting I did not paint, but just might do that anyway in the near future because it would really change the feel of this room...anyway...this room came together from some of my favorite Pinterest inspirations. Click on the link below each photo to be taken to the original source :-)

Here is the before...it seriously hurts my eyes to look at these photos!

you gotta love the kid's medicine cup on the counter and all ;-)

 Now to the after...

Much better right? The dark counters and horrible wood still make me cringe, but working within the limitations I feel it has come a long way.

Now on to the details...

Anthropology Inspired Q-tip Flowers
Vases in Frames
These frames are my favorite part and they are so cheap and easy to make!

Baskets
free printable

Towel Hangers

I was doing really well up to this point and I had a goal in my head that I wanted to do everything in this bathroom by myself {yes I am working on my pride issues ;-)} unfortunately by this point I needed my patient husband's help.  I think he pretty much waits in the other room waiting for me to call his name.

Even though he won't admit it, I know he actually likes when he has to come rescue me...at least that is what I tell myself so that I don't feel so guilty dragging him in to all my projects!

I was so excited because I hung this shelf with 4 anchors and all and it was even perfectly centered - yes, I realize I am a little pathetic that hanging a shelf its a major accomplishment for me.  But, I am not kidding you something always goes wrong!  I can paint a hutch without a care in the world, but when it comes to being handy I have real issues! And it was no exception in this case :(

While admiring my skills I placed my jars on top of the shelf and low and behold it leaned like crazy!  It was super weak :(  Unfortunately there were no studs where this shelf was placed and just couldn't support the weight of these jars.

My husband had to come to the rescue again and amazingly he had a super cute idea!  Don't worry I didn't tell him it was "super cute."  He had the idea to use eye bolts with strong metal anchors behind them and tie to the additional eye bolts connected to the shelf.  I had some twine left over from my frames with vases and figured this would be the perfect thing to use!  I absolutely love the character that it brings to the shelf!

I apologize for the poor lighting and pictures.  Do you know how hard it is to get a good photo using a crummy camera in a bathroom with only a tiny window and horrible lighting!?

I will be linking up to these fabulous parties...

Amazing how just a few changes can really spruce things up. Where is the shower curtain from? I love the neutral colors in it. The baskets on the wall are neat-o & the toothbrush artwork is adorable!

Brooke @ Spruce Your Nest said...

Thanks so much everyone! The shower curtain is from Fred Meyer (not sure if you have one in your area, kinda like a Target - but with a full grocery store as well).

I love this makeover! I saw a shelf just like yours on Pottery Barn I think. I pinned it. You could send yours to Knock Off Decor! And I love the detail of the water knobs. So many great details.

And thanks so much for joining our challenge and posting our button!

Wow! Love the baskets hanging on the wall. Do they hold a lot of weight? Nad your shower - curtain - what a jolt of colour. Perfect!

Your bathroom is beautiful. I am a renter too and it stinks to have limitations regarding painting. Our bathrooms have wallpaper. UGH. And I really want our landlord to take it down so I can add my own touches. Thanks for linking to Fabulous Friday!

Great makeover. I love the color scheme and the happy shower curtain. I need to re-do my half bath but it will require stripping wall paper and removing the sink and toilet so it may be awhile before I tackle it. I'm your newest follower and I hope you can pop over to Cottage and Creek and follow back.
