31 Days Towards Financial Freedom ~ Day 10 *NO CREDIT CARDS ALLOWED!"

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

This technically should have been my first post...however, credit cards aren't even a part of my life anymore, that I completely forgot about them!  How amazing is that!

It seems like such an easy thing to say, "cut up those evil cards and get on with your life!"  It is easy for those of us who don't rely on them, but for those of you who have your cards as a means to financial security, it scares the daylights out of you!  "What if my car breaks down before payday?" "What if my kid needs his soccer uniform and I didn't budget for it?"  "What's the big deal if I always pay it off?"

I know it's a scary thing to do, but you must take this GIANT step!  This is critical for your financial well being.

We will talk tomorrow about your emergency fund that will be the backup instead of your credit card...but for today, take out those scissors!

Truly think about your cards...have they helped you or hurt you financially?

I will tell you first hand that when we made this decision we were in a tough spot and I was using my card for groceries and gas!  Guess what?!  It forced us to make a budget and stick to it.  We managed our way through and have not used credit in over a year!

Guess what else?  The months that we feel we haven't made much progress on paying things off, we still haven't charged anything - so we are still coming out ahead!  It is a great and freeing feeling!

So, if you haven't done it already...get out those scissors tonight and free yourself!

Thank you Brook. I agree completely. My husband and I were in 'bondage'.it is a 'ball and chain' to be bound by credit cards...It took us YEARS....Didn't happen over night......But today we are free people (outside of our mortgage)..How can one bless the church, or other people in need, when we are bound. I will NOT say that it was easy~ it took work, and discipline..but the discipline grew to maturity..Please cut up cards viewers..it isn't easy......but bondage is harder~

This is why I hate credit cards. The more you use them, the more they give you debts. Some companies even have the nerve to give you an additional credit limit without you asking them! Just remember this one thing. You can't have financial freedom if you have debt so off with this credit cards and cut em up!
